A Meal Gift for Retirement

Posted on July 27, 2015

Summer is often considered the season of retirement. Why? Because what better way to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather than by clearing your calendar and having the ability to do what you want, when you want. As a result, you may have a friend, loved one, or co-worker getting ready to start the next chapter of their life in the near future.

If you’re in need of a retirement gift that’s sure to please any retiree in your life, check out our Meal Gifts options.  We offer a variety of price points to choose from, as well as a bevy of meal sizes and choices to suit all tastebuds and family groups.

A Meal Gift is a great option to send as a group. Retirement gifts often work well as a group gift, unless you know the retiree really well. Giving a group gift also helps cut down on costs. If you decide to go the group route, make sure to include a card that everyone has a chance to sign, to help personalize the gift with individual messages and sentiments.

A Meal Gift is also a convenient way to send a retirement gift to someone who doesn’t live nearby. If you don’t have the opportunity to take them out to a retirement dinner, send one to their home instead.

However, when planning a retirement celebration or purchasing a gift, be sensitive to the fact that the retirement may not be a happy occasion. Some people may be apprehensive about separating from the work force and concerned they may feel less useful, less valued, or even bored. Mandatory and unplanned retirements are also becoming increasingly common due to downsizing, layoffs and business closures. So make sure when penning your note to the retiree, you know the circumstances of their retirement. If you don’t, shy away from congratulatory sentiments or those of condolences. For a co-worker, something such as “It was so nice working with you” covers all the bases.
